In Case You Missed It: Week In Review

Well, it was a long week for sports. World Cup action, Tennis action (understatement), NBA draft action, NHL draft action. Lotsa stuff. OH, Jamie’s gone. But only for a month! Unfortunately, he’ll probably be missing the Siren Festival on Coney Island, which we still intend to cover as voraciously as last year (we’re teaming up with an awesome photographer, Hilary J. Corts – check her stuff out here). So while you wept over the World Cup, Jamie, or your rent-a-friend, here’s what you missed this week on Knox Road.

Monday:
[MP3] Ariel Pink with Added Pizzazz: “In The Heat Of The Night”
Notable Album Release: Catherine Feeny – People in the Hole
[MP3] Sharon Van Etten: “I Couldn’t Save You” from The Builder soundtrack

Tuesday:
[Review] Stars’ The Five Ghosts is full of consistent, illusory pop, but will it be remembered?
[MP3] Mystery Jets: “Dreaming Of Another World”

Wednesday:
Jamie speaks: I’m leaving and I’m not coming back (for about a month)
[MP3] Ruse of Fools: “Happy Song”
Murder Mystery releases two new songs

Thursday:
Casey Shea offers new MP3, featured on “Mr. Rogers & Me” documentary
[MP3] Cloud Nothings: “Didn’t You”

Friday:
[MP3] Hammer No More the Fingers: “Shutterbug”
[Abby’s Road] Waves of Mutilation – a Decibel Discussion
[MP3] of Montreal: “Coquet Coquette”

Saturday:
Phenomenal Video Saturday: Thom Yorke

*Pick of the Week*
Culture Bully: “Saved By The ’90s: A Maple-Flavoured Blast-From-The-Past” Chris goes back to the 90s and jots down some memories of his teenage listening experience for a collaborative mix with Aaron from Tsururadio. (Oh, and check out his amazing new links page, which he probably started working on in the 90s.)

*MP3 of the Week*
Tame Impala – “Solitude is Bliss” [MP3] We haven’t talked much about these Aussies (apologies), but rest assured, we’ve fallen in love with them just as much as everyone else. If you don’t know them, start here. Then go get their debut full-length, Innerspeaker.
