iTunes Mixery

HA, getting ya at all sorts of random times! You just have to stay tuned if you want a piece of mixery. For those who don’t know, this is iTunes Mixery part ocho. Here’s how it goes: I play iTunes on shuffle -> tell you which song comes up -> provide the mp3 and a tidbit -> continue until five songs and embarrassment are complete. Again, nothing’s off-limits – I don’t “fix the mix”. Have a look into my life…

  1. Common – “Drivin’ Me Wild” [MP3] (from Finding Forever). What, hip-hop? Yeah dudes, we listen to rap and hip-hop around here, we just don’t cover it enough. Lily Allen’s voice works well on this track; she and Common are a good duo, if I do say so myself.
  2. Radical Face – “Welcome Home, Son” [MP3] (from Ghost). Having posted this song before along with a little piece about Ben Cooper, you should have a good idea for what Radical Face is like. If not, indulge in this gorgeous hand-clapping, acoustic-ridden, piano-driven song.
  3. The Beta Band – “Space Beatle” [MP3] (from Heroes to Zeroes). “Just like yesterday, I’ll never feel this way again.” Really miss these guys and their experimental, psychedelic pop. “Space Beatle” is an appropriate track to symbolize their sound, in title and in content.
  4. Daylight’s for the Birds – “Worlds Away” [MP3] (from Trouble Everywhere). Shoegaze to the extreme. Stunning sonic sound. Enough said.
  5. World Leader Pretend – “Lovey Dovey” [MP3] (from Punches). From New Orleans, this quintet gives us a very Christmas-y tune in “Lovey Dovey”; it reaches for the sky with yearning vocals and prominent strings.
