iTunes Mixery

It’s that time again! If you’ve been reading along, you know the rules. If not, here’s a little refresher: I press shuffle play on iTunes, and then tell you which 5 songs show up and provide a little tidbit and the mp3 (most of the time). Judging is allowed. Here’s hoping I don’t embarrass myself. I don’t cheat.

  1. Low Vs. Diamond – “Don’t Forget Sister” (from Low Vs. Diamond). Released back in April, Low Vs. Diamond’s self-titled EP took much of the indie world by storm with its catchy hooks and sing-along pop. One of my favorites, this song in particular showcases Low Vs. Diamond’s propensity for a unique sound without losing its accessibility to a common listener.
  2. JP Cutler – “In The Mood” (Live. Visit his website.) A soothing acoustic piece with yearning vocals presenting themselves at the right time. An apt title – it’s a song for a certain mood. Just…relax.
  3. The Tallest Man on Earth – “Into The Stream” (from Shallow Grave). I guess this theme is becoming acoustic? Intense background finger-picking with a voice that some will enjoy and others will not. It’s really quite simple, yet still beautiful in its own way.
  4. Anathallo – “Hanasakajijii (one: the angry neighbor)”. Must I declare my love for Anathallo over and over? Another beauty, this one from Floating World. I dare you not to enjoy.
  5. Richard Swift – “Lovely Night” (from The Novelist/Walking Without Effort). This song evokes so much imagery. Imagine any dance scene from a movie set in the 50’s, and you hear “Lovely Night”. Or vice versa.
