From the press release for Goldspot‘s And The Elephant Is Dancing, which is out today:
From New Delhi to New Jersey, Goldspot’s sophomore LP, And the Elephant Is Dancing, seamlessly fuses the cross-cultural influences of frontman Siddhartha Khosla’s upbringing into an infectious pastiche of indie-pop nuggets. The follow-up to the critically acclaimed debut, […]
Canadian Indie Rockers Metric recently announced some new U.S. tour dates in support of their hit album Fantasies, and yippee, Maryland’s on the list! (Sadly, and surprisingly, NYC is not. Then again, it is Metric, who don’t work traditionally. Label? Yeah, right.) If you’re in D.C. you know Baltimore’s not that far, and […]
By now, everybody knows about the OMZGAWESOME soundtrack for the next Twilight movie that includes the likes of Death Cab For Cutie, Bon Iver, Radiohead, et al. But what you might NOT have known were plans to have said artists tour Hot Topic stores to promote the thing. The New York […]
Along with a slew of tour dates, The Most Serene Republic have offered up a B-side from their latest album, the critically acclaimed …And The Ever Expanding Universe. The song, “Aveern,” is easily good enough for an album (as we so often say about B-sides in general), but its raw tendencies and jagged […]
One of my favorite New Zealand dance/punk/indie bands, Bang! Bang! Eche!, is gearing up to release a new four-track EP titled, what else, Sonic Death Cuntttt. The first track, “Fist Full of Dollars” lays the bass and crunching synth on heavy, as the band traditionally likes to do. With […]
After gaining a tremendous amount of hype around their recent LP, Bitte Orca, Dirty Projectors have announced a North American tour! It’s set for this fall and kicks off in our neck of the woods (Baltimore)! The group has been stunning the world of music with their latest material, so this tour has […]
In anticipation of their forthcoming album, White Water, White Bloom (due September 22), Sea Wolf is offering up a new bonus track, available to the public, titled “Stanislaus.” If this song is any indication as to where the new record may be going, it sounds like we should be ready for a bigger, fuller tone from the Los Angeles trio. On “Stanislaus,” Sea Wolf has sort of honed their folk-pop to a more coherent, maybe even folksier (vocals wise) appeal. Honestly, I’m not sure yet if I’d be pleased with such a direction, as I’m partial to Sea Wolf’s previous material on Leaves in the River. It was a nice blend of raw pop with raspy vocals and little production. Here’s to prejudging an entire effort off of one bonus track!
Pre-order White Water, White Bloom via Dangerbird Records. Oh and um, Sea Wolf’s ENTIRE upcoming tour in support of White Water is with the precious and haunting Sara Lov, one of my favorite singer/songwriters of late. Full list of tour dates after the jump.

…And hallelujah for that. It’s been four (four!) years since Illinoise, and the possibility of Sufjan Stevens tackling all fifty states ain’t looking too good: in the past four years, we still haven’t seen a proper full length from him.
But of course news surfaced not long ago that the songwriter will be […]
Coolest tour news ever?? Scotland’s Frightened Rabbit, quite possibly one of my favorite bands of the past year or so, are teaming up with fellow countrymen The Twilight Sad, as well as We Were Promised Jetpacks, for a huge North American tour. Expect a lot of wonderfully sad, epic shows, filled with the […]
To recognize the 20 years since the release of their landmark album, Doolittle, the Pixies have decided to go on tour (!!) in Europe (…). The tour is actually pretty cool, they’re playing all the songs from Doolittle and the album’s B-sides and junk.
I know they’ve toured the states recently and that […]
