White Hills are on top of their game with H-p1

There seems to be only so much you can do with a stoner rock / space rock hybrid sound, but White Hills always seems to push that sound just a little bit further. With their latest album, H-p1, White Hills advance that sound one step more. Over the course of 70 […]

clownfacee

Having featured the band Warm Weather the other day, I felt it necessary to balance things out around here. Thankfully, clownfacee’s Winter EP popped into my life and, much to my chagrin, things have stabilized (whew). The Winter EP is a spacey, experimental creation by Mike: the man, the myth, the legend.

It […]

[MP3] Beat Radio: “Beautiful One”

Brian and co. seem to do no wrong, especially with their newest song, “Beautiful One,” which is an actually an old song with a new arrangement. Ya dig?

“Beautiful One” is super lo-fi catchy all the way around; Sendrowitz is able to make his songs wonderfully poppy, yet, with their scratchy qualities, appealing […]

Notable Album Release: The Shivers – More

The Shivers announced the forthcoming release of their new album, More, due May 10 via Silence Breaks. The veteran duo (Keith Zarriello and Jo Schornikow) from Queens, NY, recorded the album in Manchester, UK, which, I think, helped them break out of their shell a bit. The first single off More, titled “Used to Be”, is far less downtrodden than standard Shivers material and more varied in song structure (not to mention all that electronica). They’re said to have made More rather eclectic, which had me worried at first, considering I love The Shivers’ older material; but I trust Keith and Jo to pull it off.

Electric Tickle Machine's Blew It Again to finally see wide release on June 29

Electric Tickle Machine powered themselves onto the indie pop scene pretty strong last year, as their debut album, Blew It Again, was a breath of fresh air for a lot of people who just needed a jubilant sound (and sexual innuendos / not really innuendos at all) to jump start their days.  Blew It […]
