Yeah. That’s tomorrow. At the Central Park Summerstage. Meaning outside in New York City. How often do you get to see one of the best-known live acts perform at such an incredible outdoors venue?? Just get there early; you’ll be facing quite the line. Don’t wanna drown in that old man’s B.O. in front of you. Or your own. It can get miiighty hot. Tickets.

Explosions In The Sky – “Day Five” [MP3] (from The Rescue)

Explosions In The Sky – “Your Hand in Mine” [MP3] (from The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place)

Explosions In The Sky – “A Poor Man’s Memory” [MP3] (from Those Who Tell The Truth Shall Die, Those Who Tell The Truth Shall Live Forever)

No offense, but the Summerstage concerts are held at the Rumsey Playfield in Central Park. It’s an awful, awful venue… not “such an incredible venue” as you describe it. Compared to literally any other venue it falls way short. As an outdoor venue it is horrible… concrete ground, small, no incline, no bar, and no foliage at all inside the gates. Plus, the lines for every Summerstage show are usually unbearable.

I have never understood why this venue is used. Any lawn in Central Park would be far preferable… damage to the grass would be a problem, of course. But if they’re gonna bring in great bands like Explosions In The Sky and so many others, you’d think they’d upgrade the venue or move the shows to a better spot in the park.

    Disappointing.
