After reading the short blurb for Sweet Track, a highly unknown artist with a mere 52 plays scrobbled on last.fm, I was…confused:
Some where between the lost tapes of your youth and the controversy of chillwave fits Sweet Track, creating that irritatingly familiar yet new sound that’s made for basking in comfortable nostalgia while staying true to its indie self.
Irritatingly familiar? Why would someone use the word irritatingly to promote themselves? Why does familiar have to be irritating?
But guess what? I listened. And I’m oh so glad. Sweet Track, from Somerville MA, rides that familiar wave (ooooh mashing up the sentence!) with light electronica and breezy vocals. “Upon Joining The Army” is the b-side to his debut single “The Two Way Mirror”, which will be released digitally via Brilliantine.
