This Week in Concerts: Death Cab, Crystal Stilts, Beirut, etc.

death cab live

Good news this week if you live in D.C., no need to travel outside the district for shows! That means no driving which means more drinking! Because what’s better than going to work hung-over Thursday morning with Crystal Stilts still ringing in your ears? Several things, actually. Several things.

Wednesday: Death Cab For Cutie & Ra Ra Riot, Neko Case, Crystal Stilts
So, a funny thing happened, almost all the big shows are on Wednesday! Lucky you, you get to pick! Let’s go big to small.

For $40 you can see Death Cab For Cutie with Ra Ra Riot and Cold War Kids at the D.A.R. Constitution Hall. It’s a hefty price tag, but it gets you a pretty hefty show. The whole seats thing might be a turnoff too, if you’re used to general admission shows like you probably are. But who knows, maybe the security guards won’t yell at you for dancing in the aisles… Tickets

Ra Ra Riot – “Dying Is Fine” [MP3]

If you want to avoid parent chaperones and the fratty frat guys (band name up for grabs?), you can check out the Crystal Stilts with Comet Gain at the Black Cat. Crystal Stilts have gained a lot of attention lately, and Comet Gain, like, hasn’t. Yet Comet Gain is the headliner? Whatever, it’ll be a good show, I just know it. Opener is Philly’s Cold Cave. Tickets

Crystal Stilts – “Love Is A Wave” [MP3]

Comet Gain – “Love Without Lies” [MP3]

Neko Case is playing two shows at the 9:30 Club on Wednesday and Thursday and they’re both sold out! Booo!

Saturday: Beirut
Beirut is playing at up-and-coming venue the Sixth and I Synagogue, but that, sadly, is also sold out. Sore luck this week with tickets. Have an Mp3 for your troubles! Tickets
