Thom Yorke fails at remixing DOOM

I know it’s Thom Yorke and he’s a genius and all, but his remix of Doom’s EPIC “Gazzillion Ear” is a FAIL. It’s everything I don’t want it to be. It’s boring, it’s ambient, it’s pretentious. It basically takes out everything that was cool about the song (sans vocals) and replaces it with weird Thom Yorkian stuff. But here it is, eat it up.

[b]A Fail? Give me a break! It is an awesome version! Maybe it’s not what rap fans are used to but it’s so creative! It’s a whole different edit, not just a simple remix but a whole new version! Also if Doom accepted to put it on the record with not any other remix is cuz he loved Thom Yorke’s work.[b/]

I understand Hip Hop listeners don’t like it cuz it’s more for IDM listeners. I mean, it have an amazing quality and it’s a whole new concept… Unfortunately IDM music is not understandble for everybody.

Music is understandable by everyone, no matter the genre. If it’s good, people recognize that. I started out listening to only hip hop, and now listen to most anything, including the entire Radiohead collection. This remix is good, not great. This is a genre switch for Yorke and it shows. If he keeps at it, he could be a force.
