12 Days of Christmas Music: “I’ll Stay ‘Til After Christmas”

I'll stay til after christmasFor the next 12 days, I’ll be posting some of the best Christmas music of today and the yesteryear. Christmas is a time for cutesy joyous celebration, so why not express it through song! I know not everybody is Christian, but you find me enough material to do a Hanukkah or Kwanzaa Music series, and you can take over this blog (jk, please don’t send me lists).

To kick things off is a brand new compilation called I’ll Stay ‘Til After Christmas put together by Amnesty International. All proceeds from sales go to the organization, so pay money for it! The album collects all sorts of soft, folky groups like Blitzen Trapper and Le Loup. This admittedly makes for a great Christmas album. The music highlights the sweeter side of the holiday, and is great to mellow out to in front of a fireplace. On the other hand, it would also be great to wander through a snowy forest to (Ooooo).

There are clear highlights on the album. Le Loup’s “Shenandoah” and Bosque Brown’s “Silent Night” are two. However, the album as a whole works very well. There is a certain overarching mood it exudes that makes it more like a Christmas album than a Christmas compilation. You can buy all 15 tracks on iTunes, and they’re well worth it. Here are a couple tracks to get your holiday season off to the right start.

Le Loup – “Shenandoah” (MP3)

Blitzen Trapper – “Christmas is Coming Soon” (MP3)
