[MP3] Lelia Broussard: “Satellite”

A while back (almost a year ago) I wrote about I HEART Inc’s second annual Bombshell Alliance, in which a compilation featuring rising singer/songwriters accompanied the event. Well, if there is to be a third annual Alliance, it won’t happen until mid-November, but the singer/songwriter I profiled as part of the event last year was Lelia Broussard, and she’s back with her third studio album, Masquerade, out November 2.

The album was produced by Dan Romer (Ingrid Michaelson, Jenny Owen Youngs), which comes as no surprise after listening to the lead single, “Satellite”, which contains the bounce in its step that we’ve become used to from Ingrid Michaelson. You’ll notice the similarities. The difference here is that Broussard has a conspicuous rootsy drawl. If you like female songstresses (I know at least half of you do, and a quarter of the other half is afraid to admit it), you’ll enjoy.
