Despite the unfortunately long title, I still find myself looking forward to A retrospective 1998-2008 or i was a christian emo twentysomething from Lackthereof, the solo project of Menomena’s Danny Seim. He has worked on his Lackthereof electronic pop craft throughout his Menomena tenure, as well as polished some of his previous material from way… Continue reading Notable Album Release: Lackthereof – A retrospective 1998-2008 or i was a christian emo twentysomething

Toro Y Moi remixes Washed Out and the world implodes with joy
Excited much? I know I am. Our new favorite South Carolina electronica/psych homemaker, Washed Out, was remixed by our OTHER new favorite South Carolina electronica/psych homemaker, Toro Y Moi. In the midst of a good amount of hype surrounding the upcoming releases of both artists, Washed Out has released the remix by his friend and… Continue reading Toro Y Moi remixes Washed Out and the world implodes with joy
Death Cab’s new song for the Twilight movie
This whole situation seems really shady to me. The soundtrack for the new Twilight movie includes the likes of Death Cab For Cutie, Radiohead, Muse and Bon Iver. Although they’re all very stereotypical downtrodden “indie” bands, it’s still a pretty stellar lineup for an awful movie about teenage vampires. If you pre-order the soundtrack now… Continue reading Death Cab’s new song for the Twilight movie
Knox Road Radio playlist for 9.13.09
The radio show was great this week, you guys. We learned that indie bloggers can be sports fans too! We also got a chance to hear modern Icelandic classical music (thanks Jon!). Be sure to check it out next Sunday from 12 to 2 p.m. at WMUC’s website (click the WMUC2 link at the left).… Continue reading Knox Road Radio playlist for 9.13.09
In Case You Missed It: Week In Review
Because you were getting pumped for FOOTBAHL!! and couldn’t drag yourself away from your fantasy team (see: Lee Levin), I know you didn’t have time for hip indie music at Knox Road. I’m disappointed. Your fantasy team better win the fantasy super bowl or I’ll be fantasy pissed. I just hope nobody has any money… Continue reading In Case You Missed It: Week In Review
[Music Video] Sunset Rubdown: “Black Swan”
It’s a music video kind of day! And there’s not a thing wrong with that. Sometimes we just like expressing our thoughts and artistic ideas through a visual format rather than music. Unity and togetherness, everybody. This one is from 2009 heroes Sunset Rubdown doing “Black Swan” from their last album Dragonslayer. And the awesome… Continue reading [Music Video] Sunset Rubdown: “Black Swan”
iLiKETRAiNS to release new single
There’s not too much to say here, as information is pretty scarce, but according to the website of iLiKETRAiNS, the band will be releasing their new single “Sea of Regrets” on October 12. This is hugely exciting for two reasons: first off, new material from the band is always very welcome, especially considering this will… Continue reading iLiKETRAiNS to release new single
Comedian Rob Paravonian combines music and stand-up
Thanks to good friend Chris DeLuca, who writes the highly entertaining/crude “What Sucks…” blog (among several other things…), I was introduced to Brooklyn-based comedian/songwriter Rob Paravonian – an anomaly in the comedic music scene we’ve become accustomed to over the past few years. Paravonian, who’s appeared on Comedy Central and opened several shows for Carlin… Continue reading Comedian Rob Paravonian combines music and stand-up
[Music Video] Grizzly Bear: “While You Wait For The Others”
What do fencers do in their spare time? I’ve personally always wondered. Well the truth is finally out! And it’s super artistic. Lots of inactive things and stop-motion doll parts. It’s about what I’d expect from people who wear creepy masks and joust.* But that’s Grizzly Bear for ya! Always making videos that make you… Continue reading [Music Video] Grizzly Bear: “While You Wait For The Others”
Sea Wolf makes artsy video explaining new song “Wicked Blood”
It’s a video titled “White Water, White Bloom Vol. 1” (named after their upcoming album) and it’s only 58 seconds long. But oh is it chock-full of artistic merit (a wobbly record spinning alone atop a grassy hill, paintings of dogs hung on trees). And it explains a little bit about the band’s new track,… Continue reading Sea Wolf makes artsy video explaining new song “Wicked Blood”
