The Grammys are back, you guys! While I usually wait until the awards are over to write a snarky commentary, I’ve decided to give it to you straight, as the action happens. Some Hype Hype Hooray-regulars might note that I don’t have cable, but this year I found a liiiittle loophole (my girlfriend has to work late and there’s a TV at her office). You can send me some of your commentary or hatred over on Twitter. I’ll be here all night, so get ready for some gramophone action! [NOTE: Apparently in the mountain time zone, the Grammys is broadcast an hour behind everybody else. You know, because who in mountain time watches the Grammys? I DO.]

That’s what the 2012 Grammy Awards will be known as because, WOW, girl makes some awesome music and she has just about zero competition this year. This might be some good news to indie kids, who are still celebrating last year’s massive Arcade Fire upset, 50-something moms and just about everybody in the […]

ZOMG, the 52nd annual Grammy Award nominees are out and they’re SO bad it’s actually funny. Unlike last year when they were so bad it was just all awkward glances and kicking nonchalantly at the ground. Nono, this time they’re really going for the ol’ We’re Old And Irrelevant Award. Case […]
M.I.A. and Radiohead are both slotted to perform at this years’ Grammy Awards, but these aren’t your mother’s performances. M.I.A is playing the show nine months pregnant, actually on her due date (coolest birth ever?). Meanwhile Radiohead is planning on playing with the University of Southern California marching band.
What, like […]
The nominations for the 51st Grammy Awards are out tonight, and there aren’t a lot of surprises. Adele got a ton of nominations, as did Radiohead, Coldplay, and Robert Plant & Allison Krauss. The full nominations are here, but here are the most interesting (or rather, surprising) parts:
