The Emmys continue to be a mixed bag of relevancy

The 2009 Emmy nominations are out you guys! Not those stupid daytime ones, I’m talkin’ PRIMETIME TELEVISION. Like the kind not always on the computer (huh?). Like you may or may not have expected, the nominations are part great, part awful and part confusing. Highlights!!

30 Rock got 22 nominations! As it should. Tangiers the lion is […]

The Dead Weather to premiere short film; music fans to shrug indifferently

If you didn’t know already, The Dead Weather has a “short film” coming out for their song “Treat Me Like Your Mother.” According to the email we received, it will be “groundbreaking,” “uncensored,” and “on Cinemax.” Frankly, I’m surprised that Cinemax would stoop so low as to possibly show nudity. Tsk tsk.

Anyway, they’ve […]

30 Rock gets famous musicians to sing about kidneys!

This is great you guys. The folks at 30 Rock are pretty much kings of the universe right now and got together like, a million celebrity musicians to do a song about giving kidneys in their season finale. I don’t get the context because I don’t watch 30 Rock. YET (starting at […]

Color of Clouds

Appropriate name much? The electroacoustic trio, Color of Clouds, hails from Brooklyn and were actually referred to me by KR friend and favorite, Ivana XL (thank you Ivana!) Fronted by the crisp vocals of Kelli Scarr, along with the backing duo of Dan Chen and Nate Greenberg, Color of […]

“MoCap, LLC” coming to Spike TV this week (Thursday night at Midnight!)

So we always promote other people’s stuff here. But this time, I’m self-indulging and promoting something that I myself (yes me!) have been working on here in NYC. “MoCap, LLC” is a half-hour comedy show created and written by my colleague and friend, Chris DeLuca, premiering Thursday, April 23 (this week) at […]

South Park: “Gay Fish (Kanye West Parody)” [MP3]

I had no idea A. that there was an MP3 of this and B. that there is a “full version” of the song. This is great. If you haven’t seen the most recent South Park episode yet, you lose. It’s been like four days, where have you been??

Commercial Flashback – Liberty Mutual

Another trip down memory lane. Loved this commercial, loved the music, loved my life. Actually, not so much the latter. But when I first saw this on TV four years ago, I began a little Hem phase. BTW, as if we couldn’t get any more folk collective-y around here, Hem, out of Brooklyn, […]
