I had the honor of meeting a couple of the Conveyor guys at CMJ a couple months ago and I’m happy to say we’ve remained friends online. So when their new single, “Mukraker,” dropped, I was obviously quick to listen. While I haven’t been able to post about it until now and you may have seen it up on friends’ blogs, it’s worthy of an “any time” post.
“Mukraker” delivers pure harmonic gold, with layers upon layers of feathery falsetto. The second-half horns play nicely into the mini 80s jazzy pop resurgence that Destroyer’s Kaputt most exemplified in 2011. It’s a nice change of pace from Conveyor’s previous tighter material. I’m glad to see the Brooklynites showing off their range.
