Bellows

A delicate sound; a warm embrace.

Bellows is the project of Oliver Kalb, friend of Knox Road pal eskimeaux (Gabby Smith). The music is similarly subdued, but bursts of sharp sensation penetrate the cozy, experimental folk. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Kalb had a good deal of help on his debut Bellows album, As If To Say I Hate Daylight, including Smith herself. From Kalb’s email:

While the songwriting and recording for Bellows is the work of Oliver Kalb, this record features a large collection of musicians from the Epoch Art Collective, which spans from Brooklyn, NY to Chicago, IL and includes the bands and artists eskimeaux, Richard Gin, Sharpless, Small Wonder and several others.

If you’ve ever heard any of those artists (and, trust me, I haven’t heard all — I definitely need to look into them), I’m guessing you’ll like Bellows.

You should definitely do a post about Franki Love’s upcoming album release party in New York City!! It’s August, 30th at The Living Room (154 Ludlow St, New York, NY 10002). She’s a very talented indie artist and her recent LA album release party was a hit! Tickets are $10.
