Yes, you may have heard similar sounding folk tunes before. No, the familiarity does not take away from the music. Colossal Gospel, out of Alabama and entirely non-religious, is a duo with striking harmonies and a southern folk flair.
Without the ability to afford studio time, the fellas shacked up in the closets (see photo above), hallways, and bedrooms of a small Alabama home to record their debut album, Circles. They spent months perfecting the sound, especially the lyrics, making sure the instrumentation was matched with carefully selected syllables throughout.
Give it your best listen. I imagine it won’t be too difficult.
