Philadelphia duo Reading Rainbow has already made some great stuff I’m not afraid to admit I love. Most recently, they sat down with Philadelphia-based Shaking Through to record three tracks, one of which, “Always On My Mind” was featured and for good reason! The fuzzy pop track harkens back to recent bands like Dum Dum Girls and Vivian Girls but Reading Rainbow is somehow sweeter and simpler. The couple likes to slowly layer simple instruments until a nice, sort of downplayed “wall of sound” feel comes out.
Along with the track is a video about the recording process and some insight into the band’s chemistry. Very neat if you like that sort of thing! Reading Rainbow’s second album, Prism Eyes, is due out sometime in the near future.
