Isobel Campbell, formerly of Belle and Sebastian, is teaming up yet again with Mark Lanegan for her newest album Hawk, which will be released August 24 on Vanguard Records. Produced by Campbell herself, the record takes a turn for the dark and haunted. Lanegan sings on eight of the 13 tracks and Willy Mason helps out on a couple of tunes, including a cover of Townes Van Zandt’s “No Way To Fall”. On “Come Undone”, Lanegan’s trademark croon complements Campbell’s semi-raspy soprano vocals and the cascading strings create stellar interludes. U.S. tour dates to be announced soon.
