No Second Troy preps release of new album Colors, offers two new mp3s

Well, I’m pleased. D.C.’s No Second Troy have offered up two new mp3s in anticipation of their new album, Colors, which drops April 27, 2010. We last covered them when they made available a first song off Colors, “This is the End of Me”, so, if you can’t do math, we now have THREE new songs from No Second Troy a month before the album release. Thanks, guys!

The two songs are titled “Black & White Movie”, and “Leap of Faith”. The tunes are less arena-like than those on their previous album Narcotic but you the influence can still be heard. “Black & White Movie”, is a “rock-cooker” so to speak – it has a driving electric guitar rhythm, and shows off lead singer Jeff Wharen’s range in the chorus and falsetto in one of the last verses (not really sure why it’s there though, seems a bit weak in context).Leap of Faith”, on the other hand, is led by acoustic guitar, something we’re not so used to from the DC guys, and even turns into a bit of a folky ballad. It builds with subtle keys, percussion and harmonies.

No Second Troy will be playing May 1 at the Black Cat for their album release show.
