Bullets In Madison

Our friend Brendan over at Count Me Out is a talented fellow. Aside from running a blog like the rest of us folk, he’s pretty much a full-time musician, recording solo and with his band, Bullets In Madison. He understands this little thing we like to call “the internet” and as such, Bullets in Madison have released their newest album, We Became Your Family When You Died, which dropped earlier this month, as an entirely free download.

It’s a situation where music, does, in fact, set you free. Not because of the money though. Bullets In Madison’s music is liberating on its own. The instrumentation (bells, strings, keys, horns, percussion, and yes, vocals!) is truly stunning; what we have here is an otherworldly, cinematic sound. Provide Bullets In Madison as the backdrop to any dream and they would proceed without a blemish, supplementing the adventures with matching climaxes. This music isn’t light and airy though, so be careful.

Stealing from Up In The Air for a moment, if I were to place Bullets in Madison’s sound into my backpack, I’d have trouble moving; the weight would bring me down, and the songs would hold me in chains. But I wouldn’t plead with them. No, I’d let them control me, I’d let them play their games. In this situation, I’d be content with the weight of the world on my shoulders. Orchestral, sweeping, breathtaking; it’s that heavy kind of music, it’s that heavy kind of me.
