Homeless person makes "Creep" into a tearjerker

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I’m late to the party on this one. So sue me (please don’t).

Anyway! A little while ago, The Opie and Anthony Show found this apparently homeless fellow on the street, brought him into the studio, gave him a beautiful Taylor guitar, and the rest, as they say, is history. Or at least it’s this video. Decades of cigarettes have flattened Daniel (heretofore “Colonel”) Mustard’s vocals, and he employs his truly agonized voice on a song that I believe tries too hard to be truly agonizing.

It’s wonderfully moving, especially for those snooty people (hi!) that don’t care for “Creep” in its Pablo Honey iteration. Colonel Mustard also played a catchy original song, with vocals that remind me of the love child of Tom Waits and John Mayer. Have fun with that image.

Kind of makes me wish I could hear more of this guy. I’ll just make sure he never gets his hands on a candlestick and we never hang out in the study. GET IT?!?!
