[MP3] Shout Out Louds: “Walls”

sol

Story time, you guys! So, over the summer, I was driving to work in the morning. It was a beautiful day, and I was playing Shout Out Louds‘ “Please Please Please,” one of my favorites from their album Howl Howl Gaff Gaff. Anyway, to make a long(ish) story short, I drifted off the road and crashed into a utility pole at about 45 mph, totaling my car.

I hadn’t listened to the band since, until I checked out “Walls” earlier today. And it’s not like I had some revelatory experience, but I didn’t have a problem listening to the song. Which is good! And the song, in itself, isn’t too bad either. I like the piano line that permeates the track, and the chorus is pretty nice. Music!

The band will be releasing a new album, Work, on February 23. Listen to “Walls” below, and remember, kids: buckle up for safety!

  • On an October day in 1987 while driving my sister and I to see U2 on the Joshua Tree tour, my father was rear-ended, resulting in him pulling off the parkway, waiting for police and exchanging insurance info with the perpetrator for what seemed like an eternity. For reasons my sister and I still do not understand, “U Got the Look” by Prince feat. Sheena Easton was streaming from the radio on impact. To this day, whenever I hear that song my stomach drops, fearing I am running dangerously late for something. Thankfully, for a myriad reasons, it doesn’t happen all too often.
