I HEART’s second annual Bombshell Alliance

Remember the delightful and passionate singer/songwriter Arrica Rose, whom I featured back in May? It’s okay if you don’t (not really), but you better get to know her this time. She runs a non-profit organization by the name of I HEART Inc, whose goal is “to empower independent artists and their communities by encouraging the artists to use the resources at their disposal (their creativity and their fanbase) to help raise money for charitable organizations.” At the same time, the artists are encouraged to connect with like-minded, creative individuals in order to inspire change locally and globally.

To support these efforts, I HEART Inc is holding its second annual Bombshell Alliance pin-up calendar November 15 at Hotel Cafe in LA. A compilation album featuring rising singer/songwriters (as well as some well-established ones, including KR favorite Holly Conlan) and pin-up girl calendar will accompany the event (and will be made available online.) Profits will be donated to I HEART’s new Media Recycling Program and to a scholarship fund for a young girl to attend Silverlake Conservatory of Music. You can get tickets here.

Knox Road is all for these types of efforts, and it doesn’t hurt that music is part of the underlying mission. I hope that those of you in the LA area will attend the aforementioned launch party, as you’ll get the unique chance to interact with up and coming artists, as well as contribute to the cause. As their motto says, “do what you can, with where you are and what you’ve got.”

Catch a tune below from the compilation, courtesy of the soulful songstress Lelia Broussard, whose enchanting voice soars above dynamic keys, acoustic guitar, and otherwise minimal instrumentation.
