You might think we’re all doom and gloom here at Knox Road, and if that’s the case, well, you’re wrong! Haha! We like all sorts of happy things too. Like kittens. And Tim Minchin.
So who’s Tim Minchin, you ask? Well, he just so happens to be an Australian musician/comedian who writes songs with funny lyrics on his piano. Now, while there’s a bit of a proliferation of those guys on the market, Minchin stands aside by considering himself a musician first and foremost, and a comedian second. What we have as a result are some very well made songs with great replay value that just so happen to be pretty funny. And Minchin’s skills on the piano are absolutely stunning.
If you need proof, here’s a video of him performing a 9ish minute song called “Dark Side.” Even if you don’t find the lyrics and tone of the song relentlessly clever (hint: I do), check out that piano solo at around 4 minutes. And it’s probably a skewering of Creed and the like, so how’s that for motivation?
