Awesome new website: GimmeSound.com

So there’s a new website that’s gaining some momentum called GimmeSound.com, and I’ve poked around and concluded that it’s pretty much awesome. The main idea is, according to the site:

It’s real simple. Artists upload their music. Fans download it for free. We pay artists for every download out of ad revenue, with a percentage going to a cause of your choice.

And that sounds really freaking cool, honestly. The site’s music player is pretty great, so you can stream the songs without a problem, and then of course download whatever you’d like, free and legally. The site gives each artist a page to put up tour dates, a bio, etc. as well.

At this point, it’s all about the site getting exposure, so more and more artists can put their music up there, not to mention the money going to worthy causes. Who knows – is this the wave of the future?

Post-rockers Caspian put its new album, Tertia, up on the site recently, so here’s a few MP3s from it. So, let me ask: what do you guys think about GimmeSound? Do you think there’s a lot of potential here, or no? Why?
