iTunes Mixery

We’ve been overloading you guys with crazy new material and such in the past few days, which made me think, why not inundate everyone with my music collection again? For those who don’t know, this is iTunes mixery part tres. Here’s how it goes: I play iTunes on shuffle -> tell you which song comes up -> provide the mp3 and a tidbit -> continue until five songs and embarrassment are complete. See my previous “mixeries” at the bottom of the post. They’re oh so delicious.

  1. Lou Barlow – “Home” [MP3] (from Emoh). Vintage Lou Barlow. This one has some nice percussion in the background to go along with his crooning vocals and guitar, making the mellow Barlow…well, still mellow.
  2. Cadence Weapon – “Real Estate” [MP3] (from Afterparty Babies). A song off one of my favorite albums of ’08, from one of my favorite rappers. Cadence knows what’s up.
  3. Lenka – “Gravity Rides Everything (Modest Mouse cover)” [MP3] (from The Woodstock Sessions). Soo happy this one came up. This is a lovely cover – doesn’t take away from the original while at the same time has Lenka’s own cutesy touch on it. She gives me a sweet tooth.
  4. Blur – “End Of A Century” [MP3] (from Parklife). Wow, Blur hasn’t popped up on my computer or iPod in a long while. Nice to hear this throwback (1994) track from the Brits after getting used to front-man Damon Albarn with Gorillaz. Speaking of mixes, one of the first times I actually began to enjoy some of Blur’s work was in high school when my friend Vanessa (check out her fun blog) made me an awesome mix cd, titled “Rainbow Sharpie Mix”, or something like that.
  5. M83 – “Lower Your Eyelids To Die With The Sun” [MP3] (from Before The Dawn Heals Us). How do I even begin to describe this epic of a song? 10 minutes and 42 seconds of pure brilliance, which drowns us in an otherwordly sound.
