Patton Oswalt is doing lots of stuff

On August 25th, noted Really Funny Guy Patton Oswalt will be releasing My Weakness is Strong, an hour long special that comes packaged with “DVD-only short films and more!” And more! That includes the fact that it will be aired as a Comedy Central special too.

The show was recorded back in February in Washington, DC. I was at the show, so you heard it here first: the man is as hilarious as ever. His set started well, if shaky, but after a bunch of “I’m having a baby” related humor, it really, really picked up. Look out for the sodomy demon and orgy bits, the latter illustrating Oswalt’s gift for terrifying imagery and the former showing just how clever the man can be.

As the show ended, he came back out and performed an extra 20 minutes of material entirely dedicated to Christmas. He said he hopes to release it as an EP of sorts. There are no plans to put it out as of yet, but keep an eye out nevertheless.

Finally, three days after the CD/DVD drops, Oswalt’s starring vehicle Big Fan (written and directed by The Wrestler scribe Robert D. Siegel) begins to hit theaters nationwide in limited release. Supposedly it shows Oswalt as a solid dramatic actor, and, really, the more I see his face the better, so sign me up.

Here’s the trailer for that and some of his stand up, courtesy of his 2006 release Werewolves and Lollipops. Enjoy. (Note: these MP3s may not be safe for work. Proceed with caution.)
