Chris Price: from porn music to pop music

Chris Price

So D.C. musician/DJ Chris Price used to make music for porn. Or as his biography says, “adult entertainment.” Ok Chris, you can keep it classy, I’ma call it porn. From his bio:

Recording under the pseudonym D’Crescendo, his original compositions quickly became a mainstay — oftentimes overshadowing even the actors and storylines of the films themselves.

WOW. Apparently this was all before he was even old enough to buy porn. If that wasn’t crazy enough, he then moved on to making background music for the Weather Channel! This alone makes Chris Price a true player. Probably the coolest life story ever.

So he then decided to make some “real” music and actually release it. What came about is his 11-track album Post Pop Parade. He combines very light synth and soft vocals to make a sort of grounded ethereal sound. Price also DJs regularly, and you can definitely see the influence. It’s dancey!

His weakness is lyrics, but this is apparently one of his first attempts at putting vocals on his tracks, so I don’t blame the guy. How can I blame Chris Price, the dude who made porn music before he was even old enough to buy porn. The guy who made jams for The Weather Channel. Chris Price is the coolest.

Post Pop Parade is out now through Price’s website.

I wonder if there was some sort of strategy The Weather Channel was using to employ a porn composer…
