In Case You Missed It: Week in Review

tired

Did you get caught up in the post SXSW fever that you just had to lie down and couldn’t bring yourself to read any music blog (even one that never got to go to SXSW…)? Well have no fear, here’s what you missed this week at Knox Road:

Monday
– Balmorhea creates imaginative, dream-like compositions
– Jamie gives us a preview of the week in concerts for the D.C./Baltimore area
– Fredde Gredde’s 32 songs in 8 minutes video. Impressive Stuff. (favorite part = chocolate rain lookaway from camera)

Tuesday
– New Young Rival period piece-ish titanic-y music video: “Your Island”
– New Passion Pit – “The Reeling”
– Panda Bear’s new video for “Take Pills” is too abstract for simple Jamie
– Bob “mentions” Falling Up (he’s just too excited about MONO to be more specific)
– Camera Obscura lines up monstrous tour
– Jamie posts about a Kidz Bop video? And a Pink song is involved?
– Tenaka electronica
– A free album download from Emperor X (Chad Matheny) along with one of Lee’s favorite songs

Wednesday
– New Black Lips video is like The Wonder Years
– First Aid Kit returns to (never left?) the woods for latest video, “Our Own Pretty Ways”
– Los Campesinos! in the studio again for new album
– Les Savy Fav cover Superchunk’s “Precision Auto” for Merge comp
– Where The Wild Things Are trailer comes out (with “Wake Up” from the Arcade Fire) to the delight of everyone (who has a heart) in the entire world
– Dinosaur Jr.’s new album cover looks a lot like Where The Wild Things Are. Obscenely trippy.

Thursday
– Art takes the forefront during economic recessions. Case in point: Dept. of Eagles new music video for “No One Does It Like You”
– Alex Gladwell just wants you to listen. And we respect that.
– Space-pop duo Seeland offers new MP3
– Concert notables in NYC: The Damnwells and Gregory Alan Isakov
– Santigold/Santogold announces sweet North American tour
– Sunset Rubdown to release new album, Dragonslayer, June 23 (includes track listing)

Friday
– Jamie reviews Royksopp’s latest effort: Junior
– Knox Road Exclusive: Writer/Director Mark Region talks about After Last Season. Remains a hot topic of debate/intrigue.

Saturday
– The Cinematic Orchestra (but more shots of Patrick Watson) performing a grandiose version of “To Build A Home” (old video)
