Rod Thomas

A SXSW performer, playing March 18, 20 and 21, who I unfortunately left out of my mini-series: Rod Thomas, singer/songwriter out of the UK, not to be confused with Rob Thomas of Matchbox 20. His songs all sound pretty similar to each other, but nothing wrong with that when that sound is awesome! On his recently released (March 2) mini-album, Until Something Fits, he blends some folk with the overriding pop to create a bunch of little gems. Catchy stuff for sure, appealing to both the ultimate hipster and mainstreamer alike. Which is, obviously, quite difficult to accomplish.

Thomas has played a run of UK festivals last year and a UK tour with It Hugs Back, as well as playing regularly with James Yuill and Sam Isaac, and alongside Noah & The Whale, Wallis Bird, Kathryn Williams, Sparks and Ra Ra Riot. He also has his first full-length album due out later this year, so be on the lookout!
