12 Days of Christmas Music: Odds and Ends

Christmas Dog Gun

It’s Christmas Eve, making this day 11 of the series. Before tomorrow’s big reveal of the greatest Christmas album of all time, here are some of the random bits of Christmas I came across this month.

The Best Christmas Music Video Ever

Ali Lohan, Lindsay’s 15-year-old younger sister, decided to make a song called “Christmas Magic.” That’s fine. It’s nothing special, but it appeals to the Radio Disney crowd. The video for the single on the other hand is a MUST SEE. I cannot put any more emphasis on this. It is a complete train wreck and was probably made in Powerpoint. Watch for the “magic” that flies across the screen, and make sure to stick around for some special guests at the end!

Yeah Yeah Yeahs

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are busy working on their new album that’s apparently awesome and totally different, but they took some time to record “All I Want For Christmas.” It’s all suave and weird like the YYYs love to do, but it’s the first time I’ve heard anything holiday related from them. I like it. How about a Christmas album guys?

Rapping in School

Apparently Mr. Glor at Chamblee High School let his students make a music video for the 69 Boyz’s “What You Want For Christmas.” Oh Mr. Glor, you’re the cool one, it’s clear. ALMOST as cool as the other teacher at 2:53 who reluctantly busts “a move” after clearly being coerced by the students. The whole video was shot in their school and features people like The Goofy Guy, The Popular Girls, The Cute Boy and The Lame People In The Back Who Didn’t Want To Participate.

Deerhoof’s “Little Drummer Boy”

Deerhoof released a Christmas EP last year that included their version of “Little Drummer Boy.” The song is all cute and strange and clocks in at just over one minute. OMG Satomi Matsuzaki is SO cute when she sings. Marry me?
