Letting Up Despite Great Faults – New EP coming soon!

Letting Up Despite Great Faults is looking to release their newest EP, Your Colours, in February! Who knows when it will actually be released, but it’s totally awesome that there’s actually an album on the table. Their last big release, Movement, came in 2006 so I’ve been looking forward to this, well, ever since then.

lettingup200x1501I first heard about Letting Up while perusing 3hive back in the day, and once I heard the song “I Hear You Drowning But I’m Tied”, I was hooked. Their mix of layered keys and guitar with soft male vocals (think Electric President but less nasal) provides a perfect backdrop for working, walking, or waking (it’s Alliteration Day here at Knox Road.)

If I were to make a film in the future, I’d be hopeful to use the midpoint of “If You’re Here Today” (the music stops for a good few seconds and then crescendos into the end of the song) as the score for the turning point in a character’s decision. Cliched example to help you understand: She (…doesn’t matter who “she” is) comes back home, depressed, and gets into bed with said song playing. Midpoint of song hits – no music playing. Music starts again, she has an epiphany and excitingly jumps out of bed, creating one of the happiest moments of the film!

I know, now you all want to see that movie. Just wait.
